BTEK, best cultural building 2009, according to ArchDaily

The Centre for the Interpretation of Technology, BTEK, has been chosen as the best cultural building for 2009 on ArchDaily, the most visited architecture website in the world. At the beginning of last year, this website - created only two years ago to provide information on architecture – launched a competition to choose the best buildings in the world in different categories: culture, religion, education and sport, amongst others. Voting was carried out exclusively through the social networking webpages, Facebook and Twitter; in the cultural building category, BTEK was the building that received most votes.

BTEK is located in the Bizkaia Technological Park in Zamudio and is to be inaugurated in the coming months. It has now received three important recognitions prior to its opening: this, the ArchDaily one; the second is the Mention of Honour at the Biennial of Architecture at Sao Paulo; and the third is the recent Mention of Honour at the AR 2009 Awards, organised by the British journal of architecture, The Architectural Review.

This November 1BTEK building appeared on Archdaily.

Archdaily is an on-line source of continuous information for a growing community of thousands of architects searching for the latest architectural news: projects, products, events, interviews and competitions among others.

So BTEK appearing there is very good news

BTEK at Foro Iberoamericano de Comunicación Científica

Next week, BTEK will be at the Foro Iberoamericano de Comunicación y Divulgación Científica to be held in Campinas, Brazil.

The presentation will be provided by Aitziber Lasa Iglesias, Project Coordinator for the child and young public of the Science Communication department at Elhuyar Fundazioa. Elhuyar will show, and one of them is the work they have done in BTEK.

Great job indeed!

BTEK at Euskal Encounter 17

This year we will be at the Euskal Encounter for the first time. It is a pity, but as we will open in November, we won’t show for the first time our applications, games, multimedia and audiovisual, we will do it at BTEK

But on Friday we will present our project at 14:00 and give some clues.

So if you want to know more about our project, we will be there.

BTEk, the Interpretation Center of Technology, will help us getting familiar with changes and revolutions that are taking place whithin the innovation field. The reason is we are convinced the technological development must be carried out not only for the society but with the society. For that to happen it is essential to know exactly what do we have in our power, how it has been done and the end of it.

Tomorrow, June 2, BTEK will be in Norteko Ferrokarrilla, a Euskadi Irratia radio programme that every Tuesday at 9 pm talk about what’s going on in the world of science and technology (this programme is in basque language).
